West Driveway Bed

September 1998:
The builder had to cut into the hill to put in the driveway.
The landscaper put in the stacked rock retaining wall.

In addition to Crested Irises here, we've tried Ferns, Bleeding Hearts, Columbine, Scabiosa, and Astilbe,
The other plants didn't last and the Crested Irises filled in.

The Astilbe are still around, but they don't put on much of a show (after 6 years). Perhaps too much shade here even for a shade plant.
